Congress going soft on Jagan, says Naidu
Brushing aside the YSR Congress leaderâs allegation of âmatch fixingâ with the Congress, Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday expressed doubts over the sincerity of the Congress government in pursuing Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy's corruption cases.
He demanded that the CBI take firm action against the YSR Congress chief, in line with the action taken against Madhu Koda, Bangaru Laxman, and the accused in high-profile cases like the 2 G scam. With the CBI faltering in the Jagan assets cases, the latest being the defreezing of his accounts, doubts have been raised that the government and CBI may not be dealing as firmly with Mr Reddy as was done with the accused in other scams, where the guilty have been brought to book, Mr Naidu said.
Dismissing Jaganâs allegation that he and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy were trying to get him arrested and planning to whip up riots to postpone elections, Mr Naidu said the YSR Congress leader alone had such a âcriminal bent of mind.â He accused the Congress and the Kadapa MP of colluding to wipe out the TD in the state. âThe law is uniform for all. So how come the Accused No 1 is moving around freely, while Accused No 12 and others, including industrialists and bureaucrats are sent to jail? If the government is not able to deal with Jagan, it should say so. Otherwise, it should come out with a statement that he has done no wrong,â the TD chief said.
