Contractors threaten to seal Nims unit
Even though April 30 was the deadline for the handover of the new building of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science, the hospital has still not taken possession of the building from the contractors.
The contractors are contemplating legal action, including the sealing of the new Banjara Hills Trauma Centre. A source at NIMS claims that in the case of the NIMS Banjara Hills project, the central government is the principal sponsor. The NIMS authorities have written to the health secretary, Government of India, regarding issues pertaining to the original agreement. “This is one of the unnecessary time consuming techniques to delay the handover,” it stated.
A source at the construction firm Unity Infra said: “We are contemplating blocking of the new building because it's now being illegally used, without taking it over formally from us, and the (handover) process is being postponed indefinitely.” Meanwhile, plans for the 100-bed hospital that the chief minister said would be built at Bibinagar have not got to the stage where a proposal is sent to the finance department or to the chief minister’s office. Nor has a committee been established to take the project forward.
