COP-11: AP wants repeat customers
City is expecting around 10,000 foreign delegates during the upcoming United Nations Biodiversity conference COP-11.
Chairman of the AP State Biodiversity Board, Dr R. Hampaiah said, “The culture department is organising an Indian panorama with cultural events of all states at the venue. The aim of the government is to ensure that there should be repeat customers.”
The rates per day for accommodation of the delegates range from Rs3,000 to Rs12,000. At least 100 hotels are being filled up. The centre is organising a free shuttle service to the venue and back on designated routes covering all major hotels. The professional conference organiser, MCI Management, is taking care of accommodation.
The state government is spending around Rs450 crore on the city’s beautification, pylon construction, security arrangements and organising cultural events.
The Centre has sanctioned `300 crore for the same. Around Rs100 crore is to be sanctioned separately for constructing the biodiversity museum at Gachibowli on 15 acres of land.
