Cop forges dead man’s sign, held
Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths arrested suspended DSP Sarveshwar Reddy again for allegedly forging the signature of a dead man. He was recently released from jail in a disproportionate assets case. Sarveshwar Reddy alleged that IPS officials in the intelligence department and ACB have implicated him in the case. When he came to the ACB office on Monday to appear before the investigating official to fulfil the bail condition, the ACB told him that he was ‘under arrest’ again.
The ACB also arrested retired district registrar T. Anantharam for helping Sarveshwar Reddy to get the land registered in the name of his father-in-law and friend forcibly. The accused Sarveshwar Reddy pressurised the brother of a dead man to sell 3.2 acres of land which was actually declared an assigned land. ACB DG Boobathi Babu said, “The accused Anantharam colluded with Sarveshwar and registered the assigned land.” Sarveshwar Reddy allegedly forced one P. Gopal, brother of P. Shankar who died 10 years ago to forge the signature of his brother to register five acres of agricultural land in Madanpally of Shamshabad mandal. The land was bought in 1994 and declared as assigned land by the state in 1999.
