Cops find fish ‘prasadam’ venues unfit
Barely three days before the annual ‘fish prasadam’ event is organised by the Bathini Goud family to mark Mrigasira Karthi, Ranga Reddy district collectorate authorities on Tuesday said the event cannot be held at either of the two venues that were finalised earlier.
Ranga Reddy district collector (in-charge) Sudarshan Reddy told the Bathini Goud family at a review meeting that the police has inspected both venues and concluded that neither is suitable for foolproof security. The fish prasadam event is scheduled from 7 am on June 8. The authorities had earlier decided to hold the event on either Survey No. 49 in Kattedan, or Survey No. 48 Kattedan mini-stadium.
Instead, Mr Sudarshan Reddy asked the Bathini family to seek permission to hold the event at the old venue: Exhibition Grounds in Nampally. Mr Reddy also offered to forward all details to the general administration department, to have them sent further to the Hyderabad administration for making arrangements at the Exhibition Grounds.
But Bathini Harinath Goud said by the time they went to meet Hyderabad collector N. Gulzar, armed with the Cyberabad police’s report and details of RR district review meeting, he had already left. “Hundreds of people from all over the country are calling us about the venue. Some people have already arrived in Hyderabad and have rented accommodation near Kattedan. We will meet the Hyderabad collector on Wednesday,” Mr Bathini Goud said.
Cyberabad DCP Sudheer Babu said he personally has confidence that the venue is safe but the report was submitted to DGP only after arriving at a decision that both venues are inappropriate.
