Cops relax curfew for 4 hrs, situation eases
Bahadurpura near Zoo Park was tensed on Tuesday after another place of worship was desecrated. While the city police has been put on high alert, senior officials maintained that the situation was under control as people behaved maturely and sorted out the issue.
Meanwhile, the situation was peaceful in the violence-hit Madannapet and Saidabad on Tuesday though curfew remained in place for the third day. Mr Anurag Sharma, who took over as incharge city police commissioner on Tuesday, however, said that the curfew would be relaxed for four hours on Wednesday between 11 am and 3 pm in the city for the locals to make essential purchases.
Additional forces were rushed to the area to thwart any untoward incident and senior police officials spoke to community elders to diffuse the situation. Speaking on the latest development in Bahad-upura, the DCP, South Zone, Mr Manish Kumar Sinha, said, “We have received a communication that a small shrine on the roadside was desecrated. But people there behaved maturely and with utmost restraint. They cleaned up the place. Senior police officials talked to the community elders and the issue was sorted out.”
