Cops scare off temple thieves
The police foiled a burglary attempt at a Ganesha temple near Koti in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Sultan Bazar inspector B. Anand said that a gang of thieves had come to the temple in an autorickshaw and broke the locks using iron rods.
However, a patrol vehicle of the Sultan Bazar police station was present in the area. Seeing the police vehicle, the gang fled leaving behind their equipment.
Meanwhile, BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy visited the place along with party workers and demanded action against temple thefts.
They said that said while many innocent youths were picked up for alleged communal violence, the police has not yet arrested any of the temple thieves.
Inspector Anand said the police had not booked any case as no complaint was filed. “We haven’t got any complaint regarding the issue, and so no case has been booked,” he said.
