Cops seize clips of rave party
Some people who attended a rave party in Banjara Hills recorded the dancing and trance music on their mobile phones. Police have seized the video recordings of the party and the psychedelic trance music and mosaic photos used for hallucinogenic effects from the laptops of the accused.
Commissioner of police Anurag Sharma said a manhunt has been launched for one Sameer alias Sam, a Nigerian national from Goa, who supplied drugs for the rave party. Police say that there is an increasing use of MDMA, an ecstasy drug, at rave parties in the city. After a crackdown on cocaine, drug abusers have turned to MDMA and LSD and hallucinogenic drugs which cause the user to see vivid colors and make their senses abnormally active. Trance music used in rave parties is enjoyed by those who are high on drugs.
A police official said, “MDMA is popular among women at rave parties. It is available at Rs 3,000 per gram whereas cocaine costs Rs 4,500 per gram. The supplies come from Goa.” On Saturday night, the police arrested five persons including an Ugandan national and seized Rs 2.5 lakh worth of drugs, five cell phones, two laptops and a music system. The case has been registered under NDPS Act and Section 14 of Foreigners Act by Banjara Hills police.
The Ugandan national Donald, 29, son of Mugishan, is a student and resident of Defence Colony in Sainikpuri. His girlfriend M. Shruthi Glory alias Teena and associates B. Sailesh, 24, a call centre employee hail from Mumbai. Two students Murali Krishna Susheel, son of Krishna Swamy and Saki Subrahmanyam Chawla, 19, daughter of Ashin Chawla were also arrested. Donald, the police said, came to India in 2006 on a student visa and is involved in drug peddling.
