Corporate colleges in AP bag 25% IIT seats

Students from the state’s corporate colleges excelled in IIT-JEE, bagging 2,375 out of total 9,500 seats, or 25 per cent, in the 15 IITs across the country.

According to the results announced on Friday, several students from Narayana, Sri Chaitanya, FIITJEE, Delta IIT Academy and Dr KKR’s Gowtham institutions made it to the IIT selection list this year from the state.

Among the toppers of Sri Chaitanya college, Md H. Rehman was ranked All India first in minority category, P. Balaji Vishal and Aditya Kumar Akash secured fourth rank, D. Venkatesh came fifth, Ameer Hamza sixth and K. Madhava Murthy Sai Priyatham bagged eighth rank in various categories.

In the OC category, four Narayana students were ranked in top-10, 16 in top-50 and 23 in the top-100 list. In OBC category, five of its students were in the top-10, 17 in top-50, and 23 in top-100. In SC/ST category, Narayana students bagged three ranks in the first 10, 18 in top-50 and 28 in top-100.

“This is the best performance by our students in IIT-JEE till date,” Narayana Group chairman Dr P. Narayana said. “Our students have bagged 13 ranks in top-10, 52 ranks in top-50 and 75 ranks in top-100 in various categories.”

Chairman of Sri Chaitanya Group Dr B.S. Rao said, “Our students created a record by securing fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth ranks in various categories. They bagged 18 ranks in top-100 in OC category, and 56 ranks in top-100 in various categories. Our students also got more than 1,500 ranks in all categories.”

Seventy students from Delta IIT Academy secured ranks in various categories, with Deepika coming 347th in ST category, followed by Sai Abhijit (850) and Santhosh Rathod (898).

Twenty-five students from Dr KKR’s Gowtham concept schools secured top-100 ranks in various categories, with V. Sumanth coming third in the OBC category.

Meanwhile, FIITJEE-Hyderabad centre student J.V.S. Shyam secured 20th rank in OC category by scoring 357 marks. Among other FIITJEE-Hyderabad students, Akshay Bhat came 108th and Bhargav Reddy secured 137th rank. Nine students below 350 rank and 22 below 1000 rank figured in the selection list.
