Corporate quiz gives aid for children’s education
It was heralded as an afternoon of questions, and more questions. And so it was, as the eighth edition of Y Axis corporate quiz, conducted by the Hyderabad chapter of the NGO Asha Foundation, wound up at the Indian School of Business (ISB) campus at Gachibowli on Saturday.
What emerged at the end was a delectable answer to education of many underprivileged children of the state, as the entry fees of Rs 3,000 each for the 55 participating teams went towards a good cause. Conducted by quizmaster E.M. Bhargava of Quizerati, the event was won by Srikanth and Jayanth from TCS Chennai. The duo took home the winners’ cheque of Rs 20,000. They were followed by Govind and Devjyoti Ghosh from Mu Sigma and Rahul’s team from Google, pocketing Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.
With the questions ranging from history to sports, technology to movies and touching on interesting facts that link Hyderabad to the world, schoolchildren from the city were the most enthusiastic ones, often coming up first with the answers. Of the 55 teams registered, six made it to the final podium and had two rounds of questions, which simultaneously engaged the audience as well. Noted social activist and Team Anna member Mr Sandeep Pandey, a founding-member of Asha Foundation, inaugurated the event.
