Court refuses to reconsider verdict
A Nampally court on Tuesday dismissed secondary education minister K. Parthasaradhi’s petition requesting the court to reconsider the verdict of two-month simple imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 5.25 lakh imposed on him.
Mr Parthasaradhi was convicted by the economic offences court for violation under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act. The then MD of KPR Plastic Limited, the minister was named as accused in the case by the Enforcement Directorate. In his appeal petition filed on July 30, Mr Parthasaradhi said he was not at fault and it was the bank which had actually defaulted on payment.
