Danam, Mukesh skip T-letter by mantris to Sonia on statehood
Urging her to take an immediate decision on creating a separate Telangana state, 13 out of the 15 ministers from Telangana region wrote a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday. BC welfare minister Basavaraj Saraiah released copies of the letter to the media, signed by 13 Telangana ministers. The letter stated, “If Telangana state is formed, we can confidently assure you of a thumping victory by the party in the Parliament and Assembly constituencies in 2014, except for one LS seat to the MIM”.
They added that the T-issue couldn't afford further delay, and that there was no alternative to Telangana. The ministers were clear that reports about the Centre working on compromise formulae like economic packages and political adjustments, would not be productive and any sort of package wouldn't serve the purpose. According them, 'Recent developments including renewed efforts by Telangana employees, JAC students and other parties to revive the agitation may have caused serious concern. But you are aware that these forces have always been in the forefront of a public agitation for a separate state'.
The letter was signed by D. Raja Narasimha, K. Jana Reddy, J. Geetha Reddy, P. Lakshmaiah, P. Sabita Indra Reddy, P. Sudarshan Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu, V. Suneeta Laxma Reddy, G. Prasad Kumar, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, B. Saraiah, D.K. Aruna and R. Venkata Reddy. The two city-based ministers, Danam Nagender and M. Mukesh Goud did not sign the letter. Copies were also marked to Rahul Gandhi, Ahmed Patel, P. Chidambaram, Sushilkumar Shinde, A.K. Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Vayalar Ravi.
