Deeksha is a bid to derail T: TRS

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which has suspended all agitations in anticipation of a decision on Telangana by the Centre, suspects YSR Congress leader Y.S. Vijayalakshmi’s deeksha at Sircilla was a deliberate attempt by anti-Telangana parties to divert attention from the statehood issue for Telangana. Meanwhile, the TRS identified the man who pushed party activist Raheemunnisa from a jeep at Ms Vijayalakshmi’s deeksha venue, as constable Murali. He had earlier worked with YSRC leader Konda Murali.

TRS Deputy Floor leader T. Harish Rao demanded immediate suspension of the constable and booking of criminal cases against YSR Congress activists and the police, who he alleged, attacked TRS activists, including women activists, at Sircilla and other places with lathis, stones, iron rods, rubber bullets and teargas shells. He demanded action against DCP Stephen Ravindra for ordering a posse of policemen to barge into the TRS office and beat up students.

“Ms Vijayalakshmi’s ‘odanda yatra’ to Sircilla was aimed to create unrest in the Telangana region and to force the Centre to stall its decision on Telangana. She was backed by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu. Both have chosen to remain silent despite attack on the Telangana people,” the TRS leader alleged. “Ms Vijayalakshmi claimed she came to Sircilla to wipe the tears of weavers, instead she created bloodshed. It looked as if the CM was hell-bent on ensuring Vijayalakshmi’s visit to Sircilla,” Mr Harish Rao said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
