Deo letter irks ministers

The PCC president, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, and ministers Satrucherla Vijayarama Raju, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Danam Nagender on Tuesday, came down heavily on the Union tribal minister, Mr Kishore Chandra Deo, for accusing them of helping the management of Sun Pharma thermal project at Kotipam in Vizianagram district to get extra water allocation.

Mr Kishore Chandra Deo had alleged that Mr Satyanarayana and Mr Satrucherla probably had shares in the power project, which was why they helped the management. Reacting sharply to all this, Mr Satyanarayana called the remarks totally false and unfounded.

Talking to newsmen at the Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, the PCC chief said, “I objected several times to allocation of water to the power project from the Komarada reservoir. I wrote several letters about this and even presented my case to the then Chief Minister Rosaiah and the present Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. Without checking the facts, how can Union ministers talk so irresponsibly against me?” Mr Satyanarayana asked.

He said he had no shares in the power project as alleged by Mr Deo. “Probably the minister may be having shares as the firm is Delhi-based.”

Meanwhile, State forest minister Mr Satrucherla Vijayarama Raju, popularly known as Raja of Chinamerangi and a well-known political opponent of Mr Deo said on Tuesday, “I am challenging the Union minister to prove his charges against me.”

“If these prove to be true, I will quit politics and commit suicide. Let him accept the challenge. If he fails to prove his charges, he should quit politics and commit suicide.”

Minister for Ports and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao also took objection to Kishore Chandra Deo’s remarks about the PCC Chief. “This is disturbing. Some disciplinary action should be taken against the Union Minister for making such wild and baseless allegations.”

Labour Minister Danam Nagender also reacted to the allegations, saying it was not in good taste for the Union Minister to publicly make allegations against the PCC Chief and other Ministers.
