DGP rules out booze in state’s police canteens

Proposals are also in place for setting up three more units at AP Police Academy, Guntur and Mahbubnagar.
Heavy discounts at police canteens
In the police canteens that will be opened on Sunday on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, products of around 212 companies will be available at 20 to 25 per cent discounts. The police department has also requested the government to exempt the canteens from VAT.
Mr Dinesh Reddy said, “To prevent misuse smart cards with information of members and details like purchase limits will be issued.” He said that loans to cops for their daughters’ marriages had been increased from Rs 1.4 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
