Discoms seek Rs 2,100cr FSA
The four electricity discoms in the state have submitted fresh proposals to the Electricity Regulatory Commission for allowing them to collect FSA (Fuel Surcharge Adjustment) from consumers to a tune of Rs 2,100 crore. The Commission has accordingly issued a notification calling for responses from consumers before August 31.
The four discoms have submitted proposals to collect Rs 1.62 paise on each unit from domestic consumers alone for the years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. The fresh FSA became necessary as the AP High Court had struck down the Regulatory Commission’s decision on allowing FSA for the years 2008-09 and 2009-10 twice as being time barred and had ruled that the discoms had no authority to levy FSA one year and collect it the next year. This has prompted the discoms to submit fresh proposals to the Regulatory commission.
