Drive soon against drunk women drivers

The police is planning a drive against drunk female drivers. Drunk women drivers have managed to get away so far due to the shortage of lady constables. The police is planning to intensify the drive against drunk female drivers within a week. Only 10 women were caught during the special drive against drunken drivers due to the shortage of female cops on the roads.

Female drivers made a hue and cry over being subjected to the alcometer test when the drive was first launched but now with more women constables on the roads, female drunkards will also come under the scanner. Women drivers intercepted during the drives came up with elaborate excuses to avoid the alcometer test and gave the teams quite a tough time. From expressing shock and surprise to dropping a few tears to convince the teams that they could not be drunk, women drivers have been using all possible ways to escape the dragnet.

However, the traffic police have now increased the number of women constables and homeguards in the special teams and they will be rotated so that all locations can be covered. At present around 130 traffic cops are on the move in the city during the night for the special drive. “The drive against drunk female drivers will be intensified within a week. We are planning to rotate about 10 women constables and homeguards. The drive against will be re-launched to have the maximum effect with the available staff,” said ACP (Traffic) C.V. Anand.

Actor Balayya’s son flees on seeing cops
A group of youngsters including actor Balakrishna's son Mokshagna fled from their car when they were intercepted at a checkpoint near Banjara Hills Road No: 12, during the special drive against drunken driving by traffic cops. The car was driven by one Venkat, an engineering student, and he was found to be drunk beyond permissible limits. Car no AP16BK1, which is registered in the name of the student, was caught around 1.30 in the night by traffic cops. On being identified, the group of five fled the spot but the car was detained by the team. “The car was intercepted when moving from Road No: 45 to Banjara Hills Road No: 12 and five youngsters including Mokshagna were present in the group. The car was driven by an engineering student who hails from Coimbatore. He was booked for drunken driving,” said an official. Mokshagna was identified by the cops.
