Drunk driver mows down student
An 18-year-old polytechnic student from Khammam, who was in the city with two other friends for project work died when a drunk trader’s car mowed him down, while he was crossing the road. He was shifted to a private hospital and died on Monday.
Hayathnagar police said the deceased A. Ganesh Kumar, 18, was going home with his friends and they were crossing the road to reach their apartment. S. Narender Reddy who was driving a Maruti Zen (AP11J9279) saw the three crossing the road, but lost control and ran over Ganesh who suffered serious head injuries.
Ganesh, and his two friends Ayaz Ali and S. Chandershaker, were doing a diploma course in civil engineering at a polytechnic in Khammam and had come to the city in December for project work.
The cops has booked a case and has taken Narender into custody, and is investigating.
