Eamcet on Saturday, management quota sold out
The racket involving sale of MBBS seats is thriving in the state with college managements refusing to issue application forms to meritorious students for applying under the management quota.
They say the seats have already been filled for the academic year 2012-13.
In fact, management quota seats in several colleges have been blocked for the next three years. There are nearly 1,220 MBBS seats on offer under the management quota.
Shocked parents are approaching the medical education department dem-anding action against erring colleges. They complained that the seats have been blocked under the 40 per cent management quota even before Eamcet is held.
The Eamcet is scheduled for today and the results are to be announced on May 24, but the admission proc-ess has already been closed!
Parents allege that the medical colleges have sold MBBS seats for Rs 60 lakh each and filled the seats without issuing notificati-on in three prominent daily newspapers as required.
They have demanded that the State government conduct counselling for management quota seats and allot seats based on merit.
The government has left 40 per cent seats in Category-C solely to the discretion of managements, who are resorting to irregularities.
Eamcet for the last time on Saturday
Eamcet-2012 will be held on Saturday in 749 centres across the state.
This will probably be the last Eamcet, with the Centre planning to conduct a single national-level common entrance test for engineering and medical admissions from next year, namely, Iseet and Neet.
Eamcet marks will be announced on May 24 and ranks will be released after the announcement of Intermediate advanced supplementary results by June-end, after giving weightage for 25 per cent marks secured in Inter science subjects.
Students will not be allowed into the exam centres if they are late by even a minute, after the scheduled time of 10 am and 2.30 pm respectively, for the engineering and medical exams.
They will, however, be allowed into the examination centres 45 minutes before the scheduled time.
“This year, a record number of 3,89,654 students have registered for the exam, the highest-ever number in the history of Eamcet,” said Dr N.V. Ramana Rao, convenor, Eamcet.
