Fee row boils over, colleges no to Rs 35k
The Eamcet engineering counselling, which is scheduled to begin from August 27, ran into fresh trouble on Saturday with some college managements deciding to withdraw the affidavits they had submitted to the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC) accepting Rs 35,000 as the common fee.
In retaliation, the state government threatened to bring the engineering colleges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and book Anti-Corruption Bureau cases against them if they were found to be misusing fee reimbursement funds during inspections. The government is also planning to file a petition in the AP High Court on Monday against its order of prescribing Rs 50,200 as common fees for all colleges that did not submit affidavits.
