Gali kin, MLA Suresh, picked up
Suresh Babu, the Kampli, Karnataka, MLA and Gali Janardhan Reddy’s nephew, has been picked by ACB sleuths when he arrived in the city. He has been evading questioning over his alleged involvement in the cash-for-bail scam. ACB officials confirmed that Mr Babu was picked up from Ashoknagar in Hyderabad. Sources said he is being questioned by an ACB team on details of the transactions.
An ACB team had gone to Bellary on July 24 to serve notices to Mr Somashekar Reddy and Mr Babu to surrender within three days. But the duo moved the ACB court seeking anticipatory bail last week. The ACB court will hear the petition on August 1. Mr Somashekar Reddy and Mr Babu’s roles came to light with the arrest of co-accused Yadigiri Rao, L, Narasimha Rao, Dasaratharam Reddy and others. In their confession to the ACB, all of them claimed that both Mr Somashekar Reddy and Mr Babu were directly involved.
It is alleged that the duo arranged the money that the CBI court judge allegedly received for granting bail to Mr Janardhan Reddy, a former Karnataka minister. Mr Somashekar Reddy, Mr Janardhan Reddy’s brother and the Bellary MLA, are yet to appear before the investigating agency.
