Gali’s kin move court for bail as last resort
Gali Janardhan Reddy’s kin, who have been served a notice by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for their alleged involvement in the cash-for-bail scam, have now moved the ACB court, seeking anticipatory bail as a last resort to escape arrest.
Bellary MLA Somasekhar Reddy and Kampli MLA Suresh Babu were served notices by the bureau officials on July 24 to appear before the investigating agency for questioning within three days. Both MLAs, who were not present when an ACB team visited Bellary, were spotted in the state capital, doing the rounds of lawyers. After consulting their counsels both have moved the court, seeking anticipatory bail. They have also requested the court for more time as they are required to attend the Karnataka Assembly since the state budget session is in progress. Their petition is expected to come up for hearing on July 27.
