Girl, mom stabbed for rejecting man
A man who was rejected by his girlfriend stabbed her and her mother at their home at LB Nagar on Sunday morning. Twenty-year-old L. Shanti and her mother L. Indramma, 45, were admitted to a private hospital at Nagole Crossroads for treatment after the attack by G. Kalyan, 24, a resident of Kodandaram Nagar, in Saroornagar.
LB Nagar sub-inspector M. Mallikarjun said that Kalyan went to Shanti's home on Sunday morning and called her name loudly. “Her mother came out and asked him to leave the place. Kalyan, who had hidden a pair of scissors in his clothes, took it out and started stabbing the woman. Shanti came out from the house hearing her mother’s screams, and tried to stop him. Then he grabbed her and stabbed her continuously. As neighbours and locals gathered, he left them in a pool of blood and fled.”
Sub-inspector Mallika-rjun said that Kalyan and Shanti were in love for four years but had broke up a few months ago as Shanti’s parents were against the relationship since Kalyan belonged to a different caste. Kalyan was unable to accept this and kept pressuring Shanti to resume the relationship. Police said Shanti’s parents had lodged a complaint against Kalyan in March for harassing her. “We had booked a case and had arrested him. However, later, they compromised and withdrew the complaint,” Mallikarjun said. The police has booked a case against Kalyan under Sections 448, 506 and 307 (for attempt to murder) and are looking for him.
