Girls’ day out leaves folks tensed
Three girls studying in Class VII went missing since Tuesday have surfaced and informed their worried parents they were on a “pilgrimage” to the Puttaparthi Satya Sai Baba temple. Police found them at the Anantapur bus station on Wednesday night, after the three, aged 12, telephoned their parents from there. Police said the girls had disappeared after school on Tuesday evening. The parents of the girls lodged a complaint the same night.
Their classmates told the police on Wednesday the three had gone on a pilgrimage. “Since their parents wouldn’t allow them to go, they left without informing them,” explained C. Sathish Kumar, sub-inspector, Osmania University. The three girls had a long journey — first to Mahbubnagar, and from there to Kurnool by train. The ‘pilgrim’ trio arrived in Anantapur by bus,” said Mr Sathish Kumar.
