Goon hacked to death inside gym
A historysheeter was brutally hacked to death while he was working out at a gym at Santosh Nagar on Monday morning. Police said that eight heavily built men wielding knives and swords entered God’s Power Gym on the second floor of a building near Srinivasa Hospital in Santosh Nagar and murdered Syed Ilyas, 26. South Zone deputy commissioner of police Manish Kumar Singh said that it was not a case of gang war. The police suspects the role of Jafar Pahelwan for whom the deceased used to work earlier. Ilyas and Jafer Pahelwan parted ways four years ago following a dispute as Pahelwan and his men beat up Ilyas holding him responsible for burning a vehicle belonging to one Saleem in 2009. Saleem was close to Jafar Pahelwan, who is a historysheeter at the Rein Bazaar police station.
Following a complaint by Ilyas’ brother Imtiyaz Ali Khan, the Kanchanbagh police registered cases against nine persons for Monday’s murder, including Jafar Pahelwan, Musa Pahelwan, Chota Pahelwan, Omer Pahelwan, Lateef Pahelwan and others who are at large. They were all booked under Section 302 of the IPC, the Arms Act and the Criminal Amendment Act.
Special teams have been formed to nab the attackers. The immediate reason for the murder seems to be a complaint filed by Ilyas with the Rein Bazaar police in 2009. The police had then registered cases against Jafar Pahelwan and two others. Ilyas Khan deposed before a Nampally court five days ago and made a statement against Jafar. Another reason is that Ilyas murdered one Salem last year for which Jafar was picked up by the cops. Police suspects that Jafar believes he was implicated by Ilyas in Salem’s murder and both the issues are believed to have triggered the murder.
