Gupta’s Rs 42L cheque to GHMC bounces
G. S. Gupta, of GSG Constructions (P) Limited, has not only duped DLF, the tourism department and HMDA but has also taken the GHMC officials for a ride. A cheque for Rs 42 lakh issued by Gupta to the civic body has bounced.
It was a post-dated cheque issued towards impact fee for construction of a multi-storied urban entertainment centre on the premises of the old Gandhi Medical College at Basheerbagh.
The GHMC officials are depositing all the cheques they have received and are busy collecting taxes and other building fee, as March 31 was the last day of the current financial year. GHMC has set a target of Rs 300 crore for the financial year 2011-12.
“The cheque bounced, but fortunately the GHMC has not suffered a loss. The government has already terminated the contract of the entertainment centre that was awarded to Gupta. We have asked the officials to verify if Gupta and the others have issued any more cheques to the GHMC towards building permission fee, development and betterment charges, or even towards property tax,” said the GHMC additional commissioner (planning), Mr K. Dhanunjaya Reddy.
In yet another jolt to the GHMC, a cheque for over Rs 2.40 crore issued by another builder towards impact fee for construction of a building in Serilingampally near Hitec city, has also bounced.
