HC stays Emaar plot registrations
A division bench of the AP High Court on Tuesday stayed the order of a single judge who earlier stayed a GO restraining the authorities from registering the plots in Emaar Hills Township project. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar granted the stay. The single judge had directed the owners of plots and villas in the Emaar project to deposit Rs 15,000 per square yard with the APIIC before their documents were presented for registration, and the registration authority was asked to register it. Aggrieved by the order, the APIIC filed an appeal before the bench. A. Sudarshan Reddy, advocate-general, contended that the government has passed the GO, with an intention to protect its property vested with the APIIC.
