Hookah parlours, pubs face heat
Police commissioners of Cyberabad and Hyderabad have submitted reports to the State Human Rights Commission on the suo motu order issued regarding hookah centres and pubs in the city, which violated the rules of excise and police departments, said SHRC officials on Wednesday. K. Peda Peri Reddy, SHRC member (non judicial), said both CPs had stated in the report that they had directed all the Station House Officers in the city to do surprise checks in the hookah centers and pubs to ensure they abide by the rules set by excise and police department. “The reports also stated that the concerned police officials were directed to take necessary actions against the hookah parlours and pubs which allow minors inside,” said Mr Reddy. SHRC officials said the commission further directed the police commissioners to continue the strict monitoring on the pubs and hookah parlors. Officials added that the suo motu cases on this regard were closed.
