Hotels face tighter waste-disposal laws

The officials said hotels and restaurants within the city limits were required to flush their effluent to a sewer line that ultimately ends in a common effluent treatment plant (CETP) if they do not have a treatment plant on their premises. “But hotels and eateries outside the city limits, which do not have access to such common sewer lines, are required to install their own sewage treatment plants,” an APPCB official said. “The noose will be tightened regarding waste management,” the official said, adding that the drive would start with the plush hotels and go down to general restaurants. and eateries. Unless checked, the untreated waste generated by these units would end up in water bodies.
