Hyderabad cops stop CBI chief too

The CBI joint director, Mr V.V. Lakshminarayana, had an important date to keep on Friday morning, but was stopped twice by the city police on Rajbhavan Road on his way to his office in Dilkusha Guest House.
There was tight security on the road as Congress chief YSR Jaganmohan Reddy had been called in for questioning to the CBI office. Mr Lakshmina-rayana’s car was stopped by the police, who were unaware of his identity. A passing journalist had to intervene to tell the cops who they were detaining, the CBI chief being busy on his mobile at the time.
Dilkusha Guest Hou-se was turned into a fortress; all roads leading to it were sealed. City police, along with CRPF personnel, comb-ed the nearby MS Maktha slum area in search of trouble-makers. They also closed the road at the railway gate leading to the Raj-bhavan main road to prevent the entry of people. Barbed wire and barricades were set up blocking the roads. Rapid Action Force, Quick Reaction Team, Task Force and special parties of the district police were deployed.
The city joint commissioner of police, Mr Mahesh Bhagawat, along with East Zone DCP Y. Gangadhar, DCP Malla Reddy, and Task Force DCP Ramchandar monitored the security arrangements. A fire tender and 108 ambulances were also on standby.
The media was not allowed into the Dilkusha Guest House and had to wait in a small tent set up on the footpath which afforded little protection from the scorching heat.
Two persons shouting ‘Jai Jagan’ slogans outside Dilkusha were arrested and taken away in police vehicles.
