Inter admissions open on June 1
The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) on Monday issued the admissions schedule for intermediate courses for the new academic year 2012-13. It imposed a ban on conducting entrance tests for admission into junior colleges and directed the college managements to give admission based on marks obtained in the SSC or an equivalent exam. It warned that stringent action would be taken against the junior colleges admitting students on any other basis.
The sale of application forms will commence on May 28, and the first phase of admissions will be held from June 1 through June 30. The schedule is applicable to all the government, private aided, private unaided, co-operative, AP Residential, AP Social Welfare Residential, AP Tribal Welfare Residential, Incentive junior colleges and composite degree colleges offering two-year Intermediate courses in general and vocational streams.
“This year, we have planned the admission process in two phases. The due date to submit applications in the colleges is June 30. The first phase of admissions will be closed on June 30. The schedule for the second phase will be announced later,” said M. Subramanyam, secretary, BIE.
The principals can make provisional admissions on the basis of Internet marks memos. The provisional admissions made will be confirmed after the production of original SSC pass certificates and transfer certificate issued by the schools. The board directed the principals to implement 15 per cent reservation for SCs, 6 per cent for STs, 29 per cent for BCs, 3 per cent for PHCs, 5 per cent for NCC, sports and extra curricular activities, and 3 per cent for ex-servicemen and defence personnel residing in the state. One-third of total seats have to be reserved for girls
The principals have also been instructed to grant admissions only in the sanctioned sections and up to the ceiling strength of 88 in each section. They are further directed not to give admissions in the combinations dropped by the board. The admission to additional sections should be made only after permission is issued by the board. During the admissions, the managements have to display prominently the number of sections sanctioned by the board for 2012-13, the number of seats filled in each section, and the number of seats vacant in each section. The information should be updated on a daily basis.
