Jagan sees plot to blame him for riots
In letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and chief election commissioner S.Y. Qureshi, Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote that Union minister Vayalar Ravi, who was in the state last week, had a secret meeting with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu, CBI joint director V. Laxminarayana and director general of police V. Dinesh Reddy and hatched a conspiracy.
Elaborating, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said that as part of conspiracy the CBI would arrest him in the next three to four days. Simultaneously the Congress and the Telugu Desam would indulge in largescale violence and create a law and order problem in the state and blame him for it.
“Showing the violence as an excuse, the state government has conspired to approach the Governor for postponement of elections. In such a scenario there is a possibility of the Governor recommending postponement of elections to the Election Commission,” he wrote in the letter. To underline his contention, he claimed that the Chief Minister, Mr Naidu, PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and Congress MP K. Chiranjeevi and several Congress and TD leaders had begun issuing statements that he would be arrested sooner.
“The CBI court issued summons to me asking me to appear before it in person or by pleader on May 28. While this is so, why is there so much talk by Congress and Telugu Desam leaders about my imminent arrest,” he said. He requested both PM and CEC to use their good offices and get to the bottom of the conspiracy and appealed to them to prevent “conspirators” from going ahead with such an “undemocratic and shameful conspiracy.”
