Jaganmohan Reddy defends YS Rajasekhar Reddy, says Naidu did it too
Beleaguered Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday defended his late father and former CM Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, saying that the latter had allotted lands for setting up industries to generate employment.
Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, against whom the CBI has filed a chargesheet, said that YSR had allotted lands to pharmaceutical companies in the backward Mahbubnagar and Medak districts to provide employment to the youth and added that the late CM encouraged setting up of industries.
The MP cited the example of TD chief N. Chandr-ababu Naidu allotting prime land in Hyderabad.
“Why did the CBI not see corruption in the allocation of hundreds of acres of land to several individuals and firms by Mr Naidu?” he asked, adding, “Had Mr Naidu not committed any irregularities during his tenure?”
He said that the TD had allotted land worth crores of rupees for Rs 29 lakh and had allotted 535 acres to Emaar Properties, 830 acres to IMG, 1,100 acres to Raheja and 110 acres to L&T.
“Is it not corruption?” he asked, adding that even the CM had allotted land at `1 lakh per acre to a cement company.
