Justice Sardar Ali Khan passes away at 82
Justice Mohammed Sardar Ali Khan, former acting Chief Justice of the AP High Court, passed away on Thursday in a private hospital here after a brief illness. He was 82.
He is survived by his wife, a son and four daughters.
He was buried at a graveyard at Chanchalguda on Thursday at 10 pm.
Justice Khan become a permanent judge of the AP High Court on December 10, 1982. He was appointed acting Chief Justice from December 2 to December 13, 1991. He retired on May 5, 1992.
He was a former chairman of the National Commission for Minorities and was also elected vice-chairman of the UN sub-commission on the prevention of discrimination and protection of minorities, and represented Asia in the UN working group on minorities. He was an ex-officio member of the National Commission for Human Rights.
Justice Khan was born on May 5, 1930. He topped the Madras University’s Intermediate Examination in 1948. He obtained his BA and LL.B from Osmania University. Subsequently he became Barrister-at-Law and took his Master of Law degree from London University in 1956. He enrolled as an advocate in 1957.
