Kidnapper cop runs trust for women
Suspended head constable Giri Prasad Sharma, who has a case booked against him for kidnapping, criminal intimidation and threatening a public servant injury when he held the SP hostage, was a self-proclaimed protector of women and running a charitable trust for their welfare.
Sharma was using the name of Shailaja Minerals, a supplier of branded, packaged mineral water, since 1999, but on his website, www.teluguadabidda.com, he says, “Get help here. U R Under protection. Inform the facts. Women Preventive Prote-ction Schemes.”
Sharma was also offering jobs to women.
However, Sharma told a TV channel during an interview, “We can take bribe if the party gives happily but we should not make them suffer. We should not act like politicians. There are good and bad politicians, and in police (department) also, there are sincere officers.”
Police suspects that his swagger may be influenced by films.
Meanwhile, the AIG, ad-ministration, has begun a probe and Sharma’s statement is being recorded.
The statements of SP E. Lakshminarayana, I-G Venugopala Krishna and other officials are also being recorded.
Central Zone cops said that they haven’t taken Sharma into custody yet.
He will undergo interrogation for two more days even as he claimed that he would continue to fight for the overhaul of the Police Transport Office. The call data of Sharma and of SP Lakshminarayana’s is also being analysed.
Sharma’s acquaintance, who locked the room in which the SP was held hostage from outside, is also being questioned.
