Kiran’s mass contact meeting a mixed bag
Flagging off his ambitious ‘Indiramma Bata’ programme, meant to reach out to the electorate in a bid to address grassroots-level issues, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy interacted with people of Gokavaram village in East Godavari on Saturday, seeking their opinion about different government welfare schemes and their implementation.
By the day’s end, it was a mixed-bag for Mr Reddy, as some of his promises were lapped up while he received flak at some quarters.
In an experience that would have gone down as sour, people at a fair price shop asked Mr Reddy to immediately resolve the ongoing power crisis when he went there to asked the beneficiaries whether they were getting essential rations.
Elsewhere, his effort to claim credit for implementation of the welfare schemes drew flak, as the beneficiaries said all these schemes were introduced during the tenure of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, and are merely being continued by the incumbent government.
Arriving more than an hour late at Rajahmundry airport, with his scheduled flight delayed due to bad weather, Mr Reddy first met officials and public representatives before visiting a community health centre in Gokavaram village. Inspecting the facilities there, he asked people about health services on offer.
