Kiran to stay till 2014, says Ravi
Senior Congress leader and Union minister Vayalar Ravi has categorically ruled out change of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, at least till the 2014 Assembly elections.
Denying that there was any discussion at the AICC-level on the change of Chief Minister in the state, Mr Ravi told newsmen in Delhi on Tuesday that there was no need for the Congress high command to affect a change of guard in the state.
“We are not thinking on those lines. There is no qu-estion of replacing Kiran Kumar Reddy till the 2014 general elections,” he said.
Mr Ravi added that Mr Reddy has been administe-ring the responsibilities of expected of a Chief Minister “very well”.
Referring to the Telang-ana statehood issue, he said Congress in-charge of AP affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad was presently holding consultations with party MLAs on the issue.
“Consultations are continuing. Mr Azad will brief the Congress president on the issue and it is for Mrs Sonia Gandhi to take a call on Telangana,” Mr Ravi said.
When asked when the Congress president was likely to take a final decision on the issue, the Union minister said, “That I cannot tell you that. It is for her to decide.”
Replying to a question, Mr Ravi said that almost all leaders in the party were urging the high command to take an early decision on Telangana.
