Koneru says he does not know Sunil Reddy
Koneru Prasad, the Emaar township scam accused, filed a bail application on Tuesday in the CBI special Court. The court ordered the CBI to file counter on Wednesday. Mr Prasad, in the bail petition, said he did not know Sunil Reddy, the other accused in the case, and had met him for the first time in judicial custody. He said he was being made a scapegoat due to political designs. In the bail application, he said, “Initially, in the FIR, it was claimed that thousands of crores were swindled. But in the chargesheet it was mentioned only `96 crore. If the allegations are true, will there be so much of a difference?”
Mr Prasad said that he is only a nominee director in the joint venture company on behalf of Emaar and not on behalf of APIIC or government. “Section 409 (criminal breach of trust) is not applicable to me as I am not an agent on behalf of the government. I have nothing to do with the allegations of sale above Rs 5,000 as I am in no way connected to Stylish Holmes. There is no corroborative evidence found in the chargesheet against me,” he claimed.
