Lagadapati dares KCR on seats

Stating that he would resign as an MP if the TRS proves his statement that Telangana region has more number free MBBS seats than Andhra region wrong, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Sunday dared TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to resign if his statement was correct. Mr Lagadapati wrote a letter to Mr Rao on Sunday stating that free MBBS and medical PG seats were more in Telangana than in Andhra region.

In his letter, the MP raised objection to the Governor being misled with false reports on medical seats in Telangana region. Giving details of medical seats available in Telangana, the MP said that there were 1,544 MBBS seats presently in Osmania University including 600 government seats, 675 seats in private colleges in category A and 29 in category B and 240 minority seats.

“In the Andhra region, the total number of MBBS seats in Andhra University stood at 1,378, including 700 seats in government category and 650 in private category A seats and 28 in category B seats and 809 seats in SV University,” he said. As for PG medical seats, there were 498 seats at present in Osmania University and 384 in Andhra University with 196 in Rayalaseema region. As per the present statistics Telangana has more free MBBS seats than Andhra, he said.
