Lagadapati’s resort attacked
Ramachandrapuram police on Tuesday arrested four persons, said to owe allegiance to Congress BC Cell, on suspicion of planting IED on Tellapur railway bridge and for carrying out Saturday’s blast at Lagadapati Padma Resort.
The police said the suspects are “staunch” supporters of Telangana. Lingampally Congress BC cell secretary M. Shivakumar, 37, A. Raju, 21, T. Anand, 23, and N. Sreekant, 22, were allegedly on their way to burn RTC buses on Tuesday when they were arrested at Beeramguda, the police said.
Led by Shivakumar, the four had also planned to burn RTC buses in Ramachandrapuram, according to sub-inspector M. Ramakrishna.
Post-arrest, Nampally railway police registered a case against them for planting IEDs on Tellapur bridge, Madhapur police filed a case for carrying out the blast at Lagadapati Padma Resort, while Ramachandrapuram police charged them with conspiracy to burn RTC buses.
The blast at Lagadapati resort, which damaged parts of the building, was kept a secret by its owner, Congress MP Lagadapati Rajgopal. It came to light when the resort’s watchman, Mr P.
Sudharshan, lodged a complaint at Madhapur police station.
The police found pamphlets and CDs, urging Telangana students to take up arms against “Andhra rulers and investors”, at the site.
Mr Lagadapati Rajgopal, however, blamed YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy’s supporters for the act and sought an inquiry
