Man cons job aspirants, held

The Central Crime Station police on Tuesday arrested a person for cheating job aspirants and seized a car and other documentary evidence from him. Police said the accused, Vience Raj, MD of Meckenzer Technologies Pvt. Ltd in Bengaluru, had cheated candidates from four states who were seeking IT-related jobs. Vience was arrested at Panjagutta while he was trying to cheat job-seekers from Hyderabad. CCS Police trapped the accused after they received a joint complaint from 18 candidates, who were cheated by him. Police said the accused had cheated over 60 candidates from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the last three years, and had collected Rs 70 lakh.

The police said the accused would contact the job aspirants over phone after getting their details from job search websites, and introduce himself as HR manager for Accenture Services, Nokia Siemens. “He lures them saying there are vacancies in these companies and demands Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for the job confirmation. He does fake phone interviews and convince the victims. Later he forwards fake offer letters to them,” CCS police inspector P. Venkatagiri explained. Police said the accused is a native of Mangalore and settled in Bengaluru. He had graduated in B.Tech and MBA and worked as HR executive for about two years in an MNC. In 2007, he had cheated 125 job aspirants in Bengaluru and was arrested many times.
