Man sets bikes on fire to cure ‘depression’
A man was arrested on Monday for burning parked vehicles in Asad Baba Nagar, Kishanbagh and Rajenderanagar to “overcome his depression”. ahadurpura police said that the accused Mohammed Jaffer Ali, 50, a furniture worker in Kishanbagh, Bahadurpura, had been burning two-wheelers parked on the roadside to overcome depression for the last two months.
Police added that he was addicted to liquor and was depressed due to his family problems. Two months back he quarrelled with his wife over his drinking habit. On the same night he went to Asad Baba Nagar and set two bikes on fire after leaking the petrol from them,” said inspector of police G. Biksham Reddy.
Police said that he then started burning bikes to get rid of his depression. “After the first incident, whenever he had a fight in his home, he used to go on to the main road and set parked bikes on fire in the night,” said the Bahadu-rpura police inspector. He added that the accused had set ablaze as many as five bikes in Kishanbagh and Rajendranagar areas. Bahadurpura and Rajendernagar police have slapped five cases on the accused under Section 435 of IPC.
