Mansoor Babu Khan beaten by cops
Mansoor Babu Khan, the son of a prominent builder Ghiasuddin Babu Khan, alleged that he was thrashed by about six cops on Tuesday, when he went to a pan shop to buy cigarettes with his friends. However, the cops say Mr Babu Khan had behaved inappropriately and they had to take action as Section 144 was enforced in the city.
Mr Babu Khan said, “On April 10, at 10.45 pm, I had gone to a pan shop near the Khaja Function Hall with a friend. Three police vans stopped in front of my car and asked me to go home. A constable asked me to drop my cigarette. I said, ‘Sir, my cigarette is almost done,’ and I sat in the car. The constable started hitting me asking me how I had the gall to smoke in front of a senior cop. They took me to the Humayunnagar police station and made me wait. Meanwhile, my father tried to speak to A.K. Khan in an attempt to clear things up. I was sent home the next morning.” However, West Zone DCP Stephen Ravindra, said, “Mansoor behaved badly with the cops and the cops took action. Section 144 was also imposed in the city... Mansoor was treated like any other person.”
