Masked men rob gold from techie, kin
A software engineer, his wife and mother were robbed at knife point on Tuesday night at Raghavendra colony in Ramachandrapuram. The thieves made away with 23 tolas of gold ornaments after threatening the three.
RC Puram sub-inspector M. Ramakrishna said, a three-member gang entered the residence of R. Kiran Kumar, 28, a software engineer in the city, and threatened him and his family with knives. “The thieves, who had covered their faces with handkerchiefs, demanded the gold ornaments his wife and mother wore. The trio then demanded the jewellery kept in their almirah, and took them away as well.”
Police said the front door of Kiran’s house was kept open in the night, which made it easier for the thieves to get inside. “We suspect the offenders must have observed the situation and carried out the act, when the area got deserted,” the sub-inspector said. On a complaint lodged by Kiran, RC Puram police have registered a case under IPC section 390.
