MHA permits NIA to file charges
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will soon be filing supplementary chargesheets against the two accused in the Macca Masjid blast case as the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has granted permission to prosecute the accused. NIA teams are still hunting for two accused —Sandeep Dange and Ramchandra Kalasangra — of Madhya Pradesh who are involved in the blast in Macca Masjid on May 18 in 2007.
They were booked under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act apart from Murder, Criminal Conspiracy and Explosive Substances Act. Sources said that the NIA teams have intensified their efforts to track down the duo following the permission given to them. The blast was carried out by a cellphone triggered bomb which was filled with a highly explosive substance in a pipe. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already filed a chargesheet against three accused — Swami Aseemanada, Devender Gupta and Lokesh Sharma — who are also accused of being involved in the attack on the mosque. A chargesheet is yet to be filed against Bharat Bhai. The Union home minister Mr P. Chidambram, announced that permission to prosecute the accused was granted.
