Missing student found dead in US
Harsha Maddula, 18, the pre-medicine student of Indian origin who went missing four days ago was found dead in Willmet Harbour near Northwe-stern University in Chicago, United States. The massive search joined by FBI ended on a tragic note.
The family, which hails from Kovur in West Godavari district, had announced a reward for finding him. They were devastated by the death of Harsha who went missing after attending a party off campus. He was identified with the help of his ID card and mobile phone.
Harsha visited India in July this year with his family to celebrate the 70th birthday of his grandfather Maddula Kasi Viswanatham.
Harsha, the eldest son of his parents Lakshmi Vara Prasad and Dhana Lakshmi, has twin brothers. The family reached Kovvur in the third week of July and had left for the US only on August 9.
Maddula Kasi Viswanatham said, “We are shocked to know that my grandson is no more. We thought that some people might have abducted him and will release him later. We were waiting for the news of his release all these days.”
A pall of gloom descended on the residence of Viswanatham at Kovvur.
Viswanatham, his wife Ratnavathi and younger son Srinivasa Gopala Rao and daughter-in-law Nagamani and grandchildren live in a joint family.
Several people visited their house to offer their condolences including local MLA T. V. Rama Rao and several political leaders and prominent persons.
