In what is being seen as a shock to the ruling Congress, Chittoor strongman and party MLA C.K. Jayachandra Reddy alias C.K. Babu on Sunday said his future in public life would purely depend on the aspirations of the multitudes of fans of former CM Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Mr Babu and his wife C.K. Lavanya organised the third death anniversary of the former CM, paying homage to his statue at Reddigunta circle in Chittoor. Over 15,000 people from all mandals of Chittoor constituency thr-onged the venue.

Feeding of the poor and other charitable works were conducted on a massive scale. Interestingly, the town was smeared with posters and flexiboards with images of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his mother Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, prompting the public to surmise that the CK family might join the YSRC at any juncture.

Addressing the gathering, the MLA said his family cherished a decades-long close association with the YSR family.

Heaping praise on YSR, Mr Babu said that the late leader had been a “great help to our family”.
“The YSR family enjoys the imense affection and support of its fans. Whatever they say, I will follow,” he said.

Mr Babu said his family preferred to observe YSR’s vardhanti above politics, and warned his traditional and political rivals in Chittoor, saying, “I will never fear anybody, and no one can face me.”

The development from the CK family has come as a big embarrassment to former MLA and YSRC Chittoor constituency in-charge A.S. Manohar, who claimed that he had been assured of a Assembly ticket for the 2014 elections from Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy himself.

Party cadres observe that YSRC leaders were unhappy with the poor response to bandh call in Chittoor town on August 31.

They feel that in case of Mr Babu's family joins the YSRC, it would be a cakewalk for the party in Chittoor in 2014, and also have an impact in the neighboring Puthalapattu constituency.
