Monsoon to be on time; till then it’s heat
The much-awaited South-West monsoon is likely to enter Andhra Pradesh between June 5 and 10, four or five days after it reaches Kerala on June 1, with deviation of about 4 days, said the Meteorological department officials. The monsoon reaches the Rayalaseema region first.
Duty Met official M. Narasimha Rao said, “In case of a depression developing over the Bay of Bengal or the Arabian Sea, the advancement of the monsoon will be quicker.” This year’s monsoon is expected to be normal in the state as well as in the country. The long period average is 96 per cent to 104 per cent, overall, with around 89 cm of rainfall expected. Until its onset, heat-wave like conditions will prevail in the state. The temperatures will remain above 40°C.
