My dad helped YSR’s dad: CM
In what sounded like a game of one-upmanship, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy claimed that his father had saved YSR’s father from several cases, and his family had entered state politics long before the family of the former chief minister.
Addressing Congress activists on Sunday in Railway Kodur and Rajampet Assembly constituencies as part of the byelection campaign in Kadapa district, which is represented in Parliament by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said his father Amarnath Reddy had entered politics in 1962 while YSR’s family had entered politics in 1978.
“Members of my family got elected to the Assembly 12 times. My father had also served as a minister,” the Chief Minister said. He added that his father was unanimously elected to the Assembly several times. “YSR’s father Raja Reddy, who was involved in several cases, approached my father, who saved him by consulting the then chief minister Jalagam Vengal Rao,” Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said. He attributed YSR’s rise in politics to the Congress leadership.
