Naidu’s tours to hide cash, says Parvati
Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s family outing abroad has kicked up a row, with NTR Telugu Desam leader Lakshmi Parvati alleging that he makes “frequent” foreign trips, the latest being the United States, to stash away black money in foreign banks. In a quick retort, Telugu Desam MLC Ms Napaneni Rajkumari came to Mr Naidu’s defence and accused Ms Parvati of being responsible for the former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao’s death. Dismissing the allegations, she said, “If the truth about NTR’s death is revealed she (Ms Parvati) will not be able to move around with her head held high.”
Mr Naidu was due to return to the city on Monday. Referring to Mr Naidu’s US trip, Ms Lakshmi Parvati said the TD chief has in the past visited Singapore and other countries but cashed in on loopholes in law to evade action by various agencies and courts. “I wrote a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to order a CBI probe against Mr Naidu’s frequent visits abroad,” she said. “Mr Naidu’s passport should also be seized — he has stashed away all his black money in foreign banks.”
Accusing Mr Naidu of colluding with bigwigs to evade legal action, she alleged that as the chief minister he had diverted `10 lakh from the endowment department to a temple in Tamil Nadu to please a judicial officer. The temple, she claimed, was headed by the judicial officer’s wife.
